Automated Vision Sortation System
An Automated Stack Sortation system utilizing Vision is a Cannon Equipment innovation
that allows dairies to automate the storage and retrieval of cases in a single level.
The Vision Sortation System identifies product by color, container size, and case
pattern. Stacks of cases, five and six high, are then stored inside accumulation
lanes to await automated discharge as orders are being filled. The compact system
maximizes space utilization, reduces delivery errors, provides energy savings and
first-in, first-out retrieval.
How the System Works:
- Stacks of product, five and six high are conveyed automatically from the fillers
to 26 accumulation storage lanes. The 26 accumulation lanes have a capacity of 11,096
cases.
- Prior to entering the accumulation lanes, stacks pass under the computer-controlled
video camera which then reads each stack and differentiates by cap color, container
size, case pattern and stack height.
- Based in this identification and the program entered for the day, each stack of
product is assigned to a storage lane.
- Stacks are then conveyed to their storage lane at a rate of 12 stacks per minute.
- Picked stacks are then conveyed to a dollyizer where they are loaded into a three-stack
dolly used to haul the cases on and off delivery trucks.
Benefits of Cannon Equipment’s Automated Vision Sortation System:
- Significantly reduce operating costs
- Important energy savings
- Elimination of bottlenecks in order picking and truck load-out
- Maximum space utilization
- First-in, first-out order picking
- Simplification of the entire after-the-filler material handling process
- Reduce delivery errors
- Reduce workers compensation costs
